Down Syndrome Education Alliance

Education Support

For Parents, Caregivers, Educators & Professionals

At the Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area (DSCBA), we partner with both families and educators to support meaningful learning and inclusion for students with Down syndrome. Our services are designed to build confidence, foster collaboration, and create opportunities for every child to thrive.

Services for Families

We provide access to evidence-based literacy and math approaches, communication supports including AAC, positive behavioral strategies rooted in strengths-based practices, and inclusive planning to ensure meaningful participation across environments. Families also benefit from IEP guidance, one-on-one consultations, and practical tools that help them navigate the educational system with confidence. We believe no family should feel alone in this journey, and we are here to empower you with knowledge, strategies, and encouragement.

Services for Educators

We offer individual or team consultations in a supportive space for candid conversations, professional development workshops (with CEUs available), and classroom-based strategies for literacy, math, behavior, and communication. Our team also supports total communication approaches, including AAC, and provides Ability Awareness presentations for students (K–12) that foster empathy and inclusion.

Together, we believe that strong, informed collaboration between families and educators creates the foundation for success. DSCBA is here as a neutral, strengths-based partner—offering tools, training, and perspective that support best practices and help every student thrive.

Ability Awareness

Our ability awareness presentations are a unique way to educate students about Down syndrome and allow them to ask questions. These presentations not only spread awareness in our community, but also allow us all to learn that we are more alike than different. If you would like to know more about our presentations, contact us at elizabeth@dscba.org

Inclusion Resources

Inclusion values diversity and allows for the real opportunity for people (both with and without disabilities) to have meaningful relationships.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
